JAMB Issues Important Notice on Unauthorized Change of Course or Programme

November 5, 2025 | education | 👁 1120

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reminded candidates and institutions that all admission processes in Nigeria must be carried out exclusively through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) — the official platform designed to guarantee accountability, transparency, and equal opportunity for all applicants.

According to the Board, any change of course or programme done outside the JAMB CAPS is illegal, unethical, and harmful to the candidates involved. JAMB emphasized that institutions engaging in such “backdoor” admission practices are deliberately attempting to deceive and exploit candidates, warning that such actions will not be tolerated.

Candidates are therefore advised to ignore any requests or invitations from schools or individuals asking them to change programmes through unofficial institutional portals or other non-JAMB channels.

The Board also clarified that any subsequent change made on CAPS after a candidate has been influenced by an institution through its portal will be regarded as a voluntary action by the candidate. In such cases, JAMB will not take responsibility for any resulting consequences.
Preliminary investigations by JAMB have reportedly uncovered that a university in the South-West and another in Abuja are involved in these unethical practices. The Board stated that it has begun appropriate regulatory measures to address the issue and protect the interests of affected candidates.

JAMB therefore urges all prospective students to remain vigilant and ensure that all admission-related activities are conducted only through the official JAMB CAPS portal.

The statement concluded with JAMB’s assurance of its continued commitment to fairness, equity, and transparency in the 2025 admission process and beyond.
