NECO Launches First Overseas Examination Centre in London

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially opened a new examination centre in London, United Kingdom, marking a significant step in its global expansion to serve Nigerians in the diaspora.
The announcement was made during the Education Matters Conference UK 2025, where NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that the new centre was established in collaboration with Barnfield Education Ltd.
According to Prof. Wushishi, the initiative is designed to provide credible and accessible examination opportunities for Nigerian students and adult learners living in the UK who, for various reasons, have been unable to complete their secondary education or obtain equivalent qualifications.
“Our goal is to ensure that Nigerians abroad can benefit from the same credible assessment system available at home,” Wushishi stated. “This move aligns with the Federal Government’s education policy on inclusivity and global engagement.”
The development underscores NECO’s commitment to expanding its reach beyond Nigeria’s borders and supporting lifelong learning for Nigerians wherever they reside.
